“C'mon fellas, place ya bets,” Henri grinned a little, watching the faces of the other men at the table, looking rather self-satisfied as to his current status at the table. It was a regular thing, Henri and the others playing a mean game of cards once a month, high stakes, pussy galore, good booze.
“Henri, you're killing me.” That was Fat Johnny. His face was so red, the others thought he might've dropped dead from the strain of making his newest bet, in which he pushed it all in to the center of the table. “Goddamn Cajun...” he muttered.
Henri laughed a little. “C'mon, Ah ain' had no luck like dis, can' go grudgin' me cause Ahm fin'ly gettin' some kinda luck.” Its true. The Cajun had only started playing with these guys because he'd been so verbal at a particular match and helped Fat Johnny win a good hand that set his finances up good that year. After that, they started letting Henri play, though he never really won much. He held his own and didn't LOSE much, but he didn't really win either.
Hot Hands Freddy Hebert just shook his head. He tossed his cards on the table. “I'm out.” He looked a little disappointed, but all in all, he'd gotten a good run for his money. But even he knew when it was time to fold 'em.
“How boutchoo, Sinclaire?” Henri grinned, waiting to see what he'd do. Of all the six men at the table, it was down to this.
The older man looked at his cards, then looked at Henri. He narrowed his eyes and said, “I'm out of cash, but I have something just as good.” He pulled out an envelope from his pocket, laying it on the pile. “Its my old camp and land. Just off the Bonne Carre.”
Henri looked at the others, and they all nodded. He nodded too.
“Let's see 'em then,” said Fat Johnny.
Henri and the others still in laid out their cards.
Hot Hands had a full house. Fat Johnny had four of a kind. Sinclaire had a straight flush.
And oh yes. Henri, for the first time in his life, had the Royal Flush.

"Whadda fuck is dis place?" Henri cursed loudly as he picked up the fallen boards from the side of the parking area.
Koda just looked at him and laughed a little. "Serves you right, Cajun."
Henri glared at Koda.
"Alright alright, it was shitty of Sinclaire to bet this piece of shit, but now its yours and we need it. That's all there is," Koda was trying very hard to be reasonable at least.
Henri replied, "Is gon' take a lotta work, Injun. Is perfec'. Ain' nobody gon' know we here...'less we wan'em to." He started walking around the place, just investigating.
It took four months of work and about 20 men to fix the place up. The money necessary to do the minimum was exorbitant. But it was a necessary thing.
Henri had gotten himself into a little trouble with his Uncle Gerard. Seems his "Oncle" had his fingers in some very sticky pots and Henri didn't like it. People were dying. Innocent people. And that just wasn't going to keep happening. So in the end, Henri had pretty much leveled the entire New Orleans' Pack structure, their finances and businesses. With the help of others of course.
But he'd left Oncle Gerard alive, and that had been a mistake. He sent every bit of muscle he had, Garou, Shifter or not, to find Henri. And time was running out. This place came along just in time.
Henri, Koda and a few others from the city fled to this place after its completion. They built it up and made it good.

The Sickness.
Everything seemed to be going well. Henri and his mate were expecting, Koda and Renee were...well they were Koda and Renee and they seemed pretty happy, Thayne had fallen in love and well, we could go on all day here, but let's just say shit was good.
But Koda, Henri and Thayne had been exposed to some kind of organism in the swamp. Something that still cannot be known for what it truly was. But it infected the others. And it began to spread.
Koda and Henri were the worst off at first, until Thayne began having temporal difficulties. He was disappearing in time. Koda and Henri eventually ended up falling into comas.
Thayne was working hard to cure them.
In the end, Koda survived. Henri died. And Thayne blinked out of our time. No one knows still what happened to him.
The others in the compound just kind of went their own ways.

Etienne Broussard had been devastated at the loss of his brother, as had Koda Fisher. Eti went on a search for Koda, and when he found him, he brought the deed to the place with him.
"Look, Koda, Ah think dat Henri's mem'ry can be bes' honor'd if we go back...an' we make da place great again."
Koda shook his head. "Eti, you don't know how hard its going to be, I've seen the place. Its overrun as hell."
"Koda...Ah ain' strong 'nough ta do it mahself. Ah need mah brotha's brotha. Ah need da Injun dat always had mah brotha's back. Ah need a good Alpha."
Koda looked up. "Alpha? Eti...I'm not fit to be an Alpha."
"Bullshit! C'mon Koda, ya held it tagetha fa Henri alla time. Ah know ya can do it. Ah needja. C'mon, if Ah was Henri ya'd say yeah righ' now."
"If you were Henri, you wouldn't be asking me to be Alpha."
"C'mon, Koda."
"I have to ask Renee what she thinks."
Etienne nodded.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Here we are, back at the compound...and its going to be a great honor in the name of Henri Broussard.
